Hi everyone! The weather continues to be hot, humid and down right muggy at times.
We have been extremely busy this past month with new clients as well as loads of
previous clients who came back to fish with us again this year. We have been so
blessed to have so many wonderful fishing folks who continue to call us when they
know they are coming to our area to get in a few days of fishing with their favorite
captain while vacationing with their family.
Inshore… During this time of year the fishing is best in the very early morning and late evening.
The water temperatures are around 82-85 degrees and the fish have been finicky midday. Some
days are better than others as the fish are staying along the grass flats early then going to the
deeper holes when the sun gets up and warms the shallower water. Shark fishing’s been good most
anywhere there’s bait and deeper water. Redfish, Spanish mackerel and Speckled trout are
varying day to day. One good thing about inshore fishing and hot weather is tarpon fishing!
We have been seeing a lot of tarpon within the bay, passes and outside beaches of the islands
that surround the Apalachicola Bay, they are pretty much everywhere…
We do offer flounder gigging charters for those of you that would like to try something different.
Flounder gigging charters are a night time sport that usually begins at dusk dark but depends
greatly on the moon, winds and tide.
Offshore... The captains are reporting excellent catch on grouper and snapper in general.
An occasional slow day still happens from time to time with passing fronts but in general the
fishing has been (and we hope will continue to be) good, some days being excellent offshore
during the summer season. The boats have been coming in with some really nice (smoker)
King Mackerel and Cobia while flat lining along the reefs and wrecks in gulf waters south of
St. George Island, Dog Island, St. Vincent Island and Cape San Blas.
Feel free to go to our website at www.BookMeACharter.com for more information on our fishing
Charters. While you’re there check out our photo album with over 50 pages of fantastic fishing
pictures of our clients with their catch!
We do offer flounder gigging charters on the Apalachicola Bay!
Our boats have been fishing a lot lately and many of you have been fortunate to find that we had
an open a day or two during your vacation. Sorry to say some of you were told “we are booked
for the next two or three days” so you were unable to go fishing with us because our schedules
were full. Please book early to insure that this doesn’t happen to you. It’s as simple as a phone
call or an email to insure that you have a boat with captain ready- the boat iced up, gassed up,
baited up and ready to go fishing on your preferred date during your vacation. If the weathers bad
the day you are scheduled we will do our best to reschedule you during your visit to our beautiful
area- if the weather will allow.
Inshore fishermen, get ready September and October are coming, which means more consistent
Redfish and Trout catch are on the way…
We are family friendly so bring the kids and let’s go fishing!
If you’re looking for experienced, friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622 or send us an

Steamy weather and hot tarpon fishing!

Ever heard of cloud fishing? Well, when the temperatures are soaring in the mid to upper 90’s and the fishing has gotten you hot and sweaty, we occasionally pull anchor and look for a cloud to hide under for a few minutes of relief from the baking sun of mid day… Or, for those mirror slick days on the water we have been known to turn on the A/C (driving the boat fast to cool down) while taking a little break from the strenuous work of fighting fish. I know what a terrible thing to have to do, take a little break from fighting fish. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it!
July, expect hot and steamy weather with an occasional afternoon thunderstorm as the weather heats up this month. Drench yourselves in sunscreen drink plenty of fluids and get out to explore our unique and beautiful area. Go bird watching, exploring the coast or try your hand at scalloping in St. Joe Bay or Lanark Village area waters in the Apalachicola Bay. There are loads of things to do and see in our beautiful area.
While here why not go- sight seeing in the Apalachicola Bay or River with one of our native guides.
We welcome you to come join us!
Now to the fishing report!
Inshore… The warm waters of the bay will have the fishing best in early mornings and later in the afternoon with a normal slowing in mid day when the sun is high. Inshore fishing should be fair catching a mixed bag of redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead, whiting, and/or triple tail catch varying daily due to weather conditions. The tarpon are here! We expect some very large tarpon this year as last year there were several caught weighing 175-200 lbs. July is the official start of tarpon season although we are already sighting and catching a few in June. The tarpon fishing will only get hotter as the temperatures continue to rise in the summer season. Bait pods are everywhere inshore as well as along the outside beaches of the Apalachicola Bay with huge bait pods abound thus the shark fishing is on fire as well.
Flounder gigging charters are available; we have been doing very well gigging some really nice flatties!
Offshore.... We like to get out there early and go for the big ones. Grouper and snapper catch as well as other bottom dwellers such as trigger fish and sea bass has been great so far with many days resulting in limits caught. We think that the catching trend will continue through the summer months. Our area waters are rich in natural reefs, wreck and debris sites, creating one of the best areas in the state for offshore fishing starting only a few miles from shore. Amberjack, king mackerel and cobia are here; we’ve been catching some nice ones and expect the numbers to get better with the warming waters of summer.
Feel free to browse around our website and look at our huge photo album with over 55 pages of fantastic fishing pictures (bragging rights) of our wonderful clients with their prize catch.
Our boats have been fishing a lot lately, and many of you have been very lucky to find an open day during your vacation… We do have boats open (at this time) and ready to go fishing, with a little notice and some great weather we can get you out there for a wonderful day on the water with one of our native guides.
If you’re looking for experience- you found us!
We are family friendly so bring the kids and let’s go fishing!
We’d love to take you fishing or touring in our backyard!

Vacationing on St. George Island, Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach or Port St. Joe?
Join us!
June marks the official beginning of summer and with that, we welcome summer vacationers to our area. We have been having an excellent spring season catching really nice inshore and offshore fish. Our client list continues to grow with families looking for something fun to do with the kids. A wonderful way to introduce your family to the pristine waters of Apalachicola Bay or surrounding Gulf waters is to see it from a boat for a day or two of fishing or touring during your vacation.
Inshore… The warm waters of the bay will have the fishing best in early mornings and later in the afternoon with a normal slowing in mid day when the sun is high. We have been catching some really nice Spanish mackerel, Redfish, Trout, Flounder and Tripletail and hope that they continue through June. Shark fishing has been really good with the warmer waters of the past couple weeks and some huge sharks are being caught. I saved the best for last, the tarpon are here! Last years there were record catch as they followed the huge bait pods into the area waters of the gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola Bay. Hook up with our native guides to get in on these seasonal monsters as they enter the area around June and exit in September. The average size catch is around 100 lbs but last year produced several catches at 175-200 lb monsters. Feel free to give us a call to find out how, when and of course availability for a tarpon trip. We will keep you posted when they show there massive heads in our area waters.
We do offer FLOUNDER GIGGING charters for the Apalachicola area waters with a two client maximum.
Offshore.... June is typically a calm month for offshore fishing. We like to get out there early and go for the big ones. Grouper and snapper catch as well as other bottom dwellers such as trigger fish and sea bass was wonderful in May with many days resulting in limits caught in snapper. We think that the catching trend will continue through the summer months. Our area waters are rich in natural reefs, well placed debris sites and unfortunate wreck sites, creating one of the best areas in the state for offshore fishing starting only a few miles from shore. Amberjack, king mackerel and cobia are here and we’ve been catching some nice ones and expect the numbers to get better with the warming waters of summer.
Our target fish for June and the entire summer are Grouper, Snapper, Triggerfish, King Mackerel and Cobia for a mixed bag of reef dwellers while bottom fishing or flat lining our area reefs and wrecks.
Feel free to browse our website and look at our huge photo album with over 40 pages of fantastic fishing pictures (bragging rights) of our wonderful clients with their prize catch.
Our boats have been fishing a lot lately, and many of you have been very lucky to find an open day during your vacation… Some of you were told, “sorry, we’re booked” so you were unable to go fishing with us during your vacation because our schedules were full. That would tell you one thing-we are good at what we do! We fish a lot! Please book your trip early to insure that this doesn’t happen to you. It’s as simple as a phone call or an email to insure that you have a boat waiting at the dock, gassed up, iced up and ready to go fishing.
We are family friendly, bring the kids and let’s go fishing!

As May temperatures start to heat up the gulf, bays and estuarial area waters expect the fishing in general to be good, some days excellent with the right conditions
We would like to thank the many folks that came down to fish with us!
We look forward to many years of fishing together!
Now to the fishing predictions...
Inshore… The inshore fishing was on fire during the month of April. We expect the “catching” trend to continue into May. Our target fish this month are Spanish Mackeral, Speckled trout, Redfish, Black Drum and Flounder just to name a few of the many species that we catch this time of year. If you’ve ever been out triple tail fishing and were able to snag one of those fighting rascals you know you have to go out and do it again. I’ve got great news for all you tripletail enthusiast- The tripletail are here! Expect May triple tail fishing to be good through out the month.
Speckled Trout, Tripletail, Redfish, Black Drum and Spanish Mackeral are the hot ticket for the inshore angler this month…
Don’t limit yourself to one species of fish guys, go for the slam!
Fair warning guys tarpon fishing will be starting in the next month or so-their arrival to the area waters vary year to year but usually start showing up in June...
Yes, we do offer FLOUNDER GIGGING charters for the Apalachicola area waters.
Offshore.... May is typically a calm weather month for offshore fishing. Aprils offshore fishing was good, we expect it the fishing to only get better in May and June as the gulf waters warm with our beautiful spring weather. Expect to catch Grouper, Snapper, Triggerfish, King Mackeral and Cobia for a mixed bag of reef dwellers while bottom fishing or flat lining our area reefs and wrecks.
We have been fishing a lot lately, feel free to browse around our website and look at our huge photo album with over 40 pages of fantastic fishing pictures (bragging rights) of our wonderful clients with their prize catch.

April means fishing!
Sandra Allen
Book Me A Charter Guide Service
Man, I Love My Job!
The spring fishing season is upon us and all the captains are like kids in a candy store. This is the month for fishing! The excitement is in the air (or should I say in the water) and we can hardly wait to go fishing everyday.
I'd also like to add March fishing has been fantastic as the photos below reflect.
We have been blessed this past month with some wonderful families who love to fish. We are so honored to have been chosen as their guides and look forward to many years of fishing together.
The term "fish on" has a new meaning for some of these fishing folks as they said it many times...
Inshore…. Early April fishing is typically pretty good, some days down right excellent. Bait fish are everywhere inside and outside the Apalachicola and St. Joe Bay. Spanish mackerel are in full swing following the bait pods through out the area waters. Speckled trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, pompano, tripletail and black drum are among the daily list of targeted inshore species. The terrible news is that the catfish are back in full swing too because of the recent rise in water temperatures and influx of bait fish.
Anyone that was fortunate enough to fish with us in the past when the spring fishing was on; knows exactly what we are talking about… Grab your hats and come on; it’s getting Very Fishy around here!
Want to try something unique, try a nighttime flounder gigging charter out of the Apalachicola Bay with our experienced native guides.
Our guides offer generations of knowledge of fishing in their back yard!
Offshore.... We have been offshore fishing several times in the past month and in general the fishing has been excellent in action, but hard to get away from the red snapper. Red Snapper season opens for state waters April 15th and Federal waters April 22nd. We are anxiously awaiting the opening of the red snapper season and pray that they (snapper) haven’t been reading the news of their impending fate. Now for grouper, triggerfish and rest of those bottom dwellers we so love to catch, it’s been pretty good too. Grouper when you’re able to get through the wall of red snapper to the bottom have been biting well.
Snapper season opens in state waters on April 15th and several of my boats are already booked for the week following that. I have a few boats still open, so call early to insure that you will be in on the first few days of snapper season opening or our wonderful inshore fishing for speckled trout, spanish mackerel, redfish, tripletail and a never ending list of fish species entering our bay waters daily.
We have had a boat load of calls and emails for snapper season opening as well as people checking available dates during their vacation, but we are not completely booked as of yet. That has a tendency to change as the word gets out about our excellent inshore and offshore fishing during this time of year. Don’t be the one setting on the dock waiting for a boat to come in or franticly calling around looking for just any captain on a days notice. Make your fishing arrangements early to insure you will have your preferred captain available to you during your vacation.
If you’re looking for experienced, family friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622 or drop us an email info@BookMeACharter.com
We’d love to take you fishing in our back yard!
